Brief del Foro "El tema de este año es cómo el Arquitecto puede aportar a la sociedad cumpliendo con su compromiso ciudadano de diseñar espacios que motiven a la convivencia de la comunidad. ¿Es la Arquitectura una herramienta para el desarrollo social? ¿La falta de espacios públicos ha provocada la desigualdad, indiferencia e inseguridad actuales? Éstas y otras preguntas, nos hacemos los estudiantes en el marco de una sociedad que carece de participación ciudadana.

Launch of AFH Monterrey Council

On September 9th, 2010, Architecture for Humanity Monterrey officially inaugurated its Council composed by 9 Board Members and 10 Advisors. Monterrey Council. The objective of the Council is to receive the opinion and recommendations of its Board Members and Advisors based on their experience and professional success to support and validate the projects developed by AFH Monterrey. Hurricane Alex: Summary of damages for Monterrey

Hurricane Alex dropped 616mm of rain in 60 hours taking 15 lives. Early damage calculations estimate $800-$1,000 Million USD for reconstruction of main infrastructure, not including housing. This numbers will easily go up 2 or 3 times for Nuevo Leon. The other two states adjacent to NL affected were Coahuila and Tamaulipas that together probably sum another $2 billion.
